Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

SASTM uses a specific set of tools to detect scar tissue, adhesions, and muscle knots throughout the body. This technique is comparable to Graston Technique and IASTM. Scar tissue or adhesions are formed throughout the body through normal wear and tear and overuse injuries. These tools break apart the tissue and kick start the inflammatory response to promote healing of healthy tissue.

Scar tissue is a natural response to injuries or surgery, even when they are minor. Repetitive motions, such as typing, can even cause an overuse injury that can result in carpal tunnel syndrome. As your body repairs from these minor injuries, scar tissue develops. This same process can occur in the knees, elbows, feet, shoulders, and other areas of the body.

What to Expect During a SASTM Session

At 148 Wellness, our therapists are highly trained in the SASTM process and technique, ensuring a comfortable and effective treatment. During your treatment, a moisturizing solution will be used to allow the tools to glide smoothly over your skin. Your therapist will then begin the treatment, which takes around 20 minutes, but will depend on which area is being treated. The number of treatments necessary for healing will also depend on the severity of the scar tissue, but generally, patients may experience relief after four to eight sessions.

148 Wellness is committed to offering our customers holistic pain management solutions, including localized cryotherapy, an infrared sauna, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or surgery, or looking to relieve chronic pain, our team can find a solution that fits your needs. We strive to be so much more than a gym.
